Despite the continuing contention going on with Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks, estranged wife La La Anthony revealed he does not want to leave New York.
Speaking on the Wendy Williams Show on Tuesday, La La said Carmelo’s main motivation for wanting to stay in the Big Apple is to be near to their son, Kiyan.
The most important thing with that is just to stay close to Kiyan, La La Anthony said when asked about Carmelo being traded. That’s my priority, that’s his priority. So wherever he ends up, of course we want him to be happy.
Once offered only to Marlins season-ticket holders, the tickets recently have been pitched to the team’s entire mailing list, but now the Marlins have opened to the public the opportunity to get tickets to All-Star Week, comprising All-Star Sunday (the Futures Game and celebrity softball game), Monday’s workout day and Home Run Derby and Tuesday’s All-Star Game, running July 9-11.
Tickets to the entire All-Star experience also are now available on MLB.com.
Carmelo has been the talk of trade rumors for months after Knicks president Phil Jackson said he wanted the veteran traded during the offseason. However, Jackson recently revealed Carmelo told the team he wants to stay.
Cueto guided the Giants to the playoffs last season after going 18-5 with a 2.79 ERA and 198 strikeouts in 219.2 innings, though he’s struggled to stay consistent this year. His battle with blisters has caused his numbers to drop to a 4.42 ERA in 15 starts with 90 strikeouts in 93.2 innings.
The Warriors lead 21-9 at the timeout. Golden State is 9 of 18 from the field. The Spurs are 4 of 20.
LaMarcus Aldridge misses two free throws, followed by a 3-pointer from the Warriors’ Patrick McShaw. Kind of indicative of how the game’s going as a whole.
Kevin Durant hits his own 3-pointer, giving him 8 points on 3-for-3 shooting.
The Spurs have missed their last six shots not exactly a winning formula. Golden State has the early 8-4 lead off a 6-0 run.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that Manu Ginobili is in the Spurs’ starting lineup (he’s 1 for 3 shooting after making the game’s opening shot). His last start was March 24, 2014. Is Gregg Popovich making a statement with the lineup?
Manu Ginobili’s last start was March 24, 2014 against the Pelicans. He scored 9 points in 26 minutes.
Draymond Green still hasn’t learned his lesson This may never happen, but people still seem inclined to believe Green will someday learn his lesson and keep his demonstrative reactions to himself. Every time he gets called for a foul he runs the risk of getting a technical because he acts like in this case hitting another player in the head is an outlandish thing to get called for.
The refs really screwed up the game. Green was handed what appeared to be his second technical foul in the third quarter, but the refs, after a long delay, decided that Green’s first technical as actually on Steve Kerr.
Either way, Green needs to learn that he’s not perfect out there. Sometimes he fouls guys and the refs notice. It’s not the end of the world. Just hand them the ball and regroup.
Johnny Cueto’s stint in San Francisco may soon be coming to an end.
After signing a six-year contract worth $130 million last offseason, the Giants starter is expected to opt out of his deal with the team after this season, FanRag’s Jon Heyman reported.
According to the report, Cueto “would listen to any extension offer” if the team is willing to negotiate. However, the Giants “don’t seem inclined” to work with those terms.
Despite Cueto’s lag, the Giants are struggling as a team with a 27-47 record that ranks last in the NL West and second-to-last in the National League.
Allen took a step back during a whirlwind year that was a mess for him, from injuries to problems with tripping to everything in between. When his game is right, though, he’s an elite collegiate scorer who also possesses a lot of athleticism and shooting ability.
Graham is another one of my picks for All-America this season, as the Kansas point guard should step out of Frank Mason’s shadow and into a spotlight that is all his own. He’s a good pick-and-roll player who can get his bucket when he wants, and he’s also turned into a solid passer.
Crawford has been a sleeper favorite of this writer for a long time, and he did nothing to quell that this year. He posted 16.2 points, 5.5 assists and nearly 4.0 rebounds per game while also getting into passing lanes and creating turnovers. He’s a consistent jump Cheap Jerseys NY Giants shot away from going much higher than this.
Heron is 6-5 with relative length and a good offensive game. He averaged 15 points per game with Auburn last year while shooting over 40 percent from 3 — a concern coming in. If he can Cheap Jerseys NHL just finish better around the rim next season, he’s exactly what the NBA is looking for from a wing.
As mentioned above, James and Irving were spectacular for much of Game 3. While Kevin Love showed tremendous effort with 13 rebounds (four offensive) and six steals, he was 1 of 9 from the field in 37 minutes.
Back in Game 2, James posted a triple-double, and Love started 4 of 5 from the field on the way to 27 points. Irving had 19 points on 8-of-23 shooting and looked out of sync for a large portion of the game. It certainly wasn’t the best version of the All-Star guard.
Golden State holds a commanding 3-0 lead against the Cavaliers with a chance to close out the series Friday. Durant scored a team-high 31 points for the Warriors, including 14 in the fourth quarter. That shot could be the indelible image of this series in which the Warriors continue to knock down 3-pointers at the right time, all the time.
Durant’s shot wasn’t the dagger. It was the 16th dagger from 3-point range that put the Warriors one step closer to a 16-0 playoff run. Golden State knocked down 48.5 percent of its 3-pointers in Game 3.
This time, they did it in Cleveland. That’s even more impressive. The Warriors shot a combined 21 of 67 from 3-point range in Game 3 losses to the Cavaliers at the Q the last two seasons. This is the best Golden State has shot at Cleveland in the NBA Finals since hitting 17 of 36 in Game 4 of last year’s series.
That put the Warriors one win away from the championship. Now, they are back in that Cheap Jarome Iginla Jerseys spot again. The difference here, as you’ve heard a few times by now, is Durant.
He played the role of the third Splash Brother in this one. Durant knocked down two quick 3-pointers early and finished 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson Cheap Ireland Football Jerseys combined to hit 11 of 20 from 3-point range for the game.
Remember that game during the regular season when Kevin Love hit ALL THE 3s!? He’s doing it again. (UPDATE: He’s 4 for 5 from behind the arc.)
Sloppy start by the Cavs. Overconfidence? (EDIT: Soon as I write that, Kyrie lobs to Tristan Thompson.) And now a timeout by Boston with Cleveland up 14-7.
While the Warriors hope to smell the roses and avoid the Cavaliers’ phytocidal tendencies, an upset loss would feel like staphylotomy. You can’t have obliviscence that this time, Golden State has Kevin Durant to flank the chryselephantine ways of Stephen Curry.
If Curry’s shooting goes south like an outarde, however, it might put the Warriors right under a catafalque. A Cavs road win in Game 1 or 2 would allow them to drive a whirlicote right back to Cleveland with thoughts of repeating.
Expect the action to be perinephric between the NBA’s two best teams, and not the stinky surimi that has been the rest of the playoffs. The Warriors put their proveditor to work to be better equipped for these finals, and anything less than a championship will be a letdown.
There’s nothing epoptic or arachnophagous about either team — they share the common goal of bringing home the poinciana. It’s that, or the muggy feeling of a cinerarium.
Who will be elidible? Who will enjoy the vendage? Expect a seven-game diastole through which the fingernails will seem esculent.
Tim Tebow is moving up in the baseball world.
The former NFL quarterback was promoted to St. Lucie of the Advanced A League after several months with the Columbia Fireflies, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson announced.
It’s not like he’s tearing up the league, but at the same time all of the indications are positive in terms of various things we look at chase rates and exit velocity, Alderson said, via ESPN. The bottom line is the average isn’t there, but he’s improving.
Tebow was batting .222 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs, a .311 OPS with the Fireflies. He also had 69 strikeouts and 23 walks in 212 at-bats.
Tebow signed with the Mets in September and was sent to Columbia as an outfielder, where he committed seven errors in 58 chances this season.
The D-League is a proving ground, where Jones averaged 14.5 points on almost 11 shot attempts in nearly 32 minutes per game (well above his NBA per-game averages of 5.3 points and 3.8 field goal attempts in 17 minutes per game).
He could be a bigger offensive threat in the D-League; in fact, Jones said he knew he had to be. On the defensive end of the floor, he let his coaches know he wanted to guard every opposing teams best player, whether it was a point guard or power forward.
I want to be that person to stop them, he said. Thats something that I told my coaches I was going to do. That just proves Im a defensive stopper.
Green himself was the subject of a bizarre third-quarter sequence in which he appeared to have gotten a second technical foul and an ejection only to have it later revealed that an early technical assigned to him had been switched to coach Steve Kerr.
After the game, referee John Goble confirmed to a pool reporter that he did not verbalize to the (scorers) table, and after looking at the video, I should have done a better job of making sure that the table knew the technical foul was on coach Kerr.
That puzzled Cavs coach Tyronn Lue: (Referee) Mike Callahan told me that the first one they called was on Steve Kerr, Lue said. And I said, ‘well, it’s right here on the sheet that it was on Draymond, and our scorers people said the same thing.’ But evidently he said no, it was on Steve Kerr, the first one.
But for all the confusion around that situation, there was some pure bad blood between these teams, which is inevitable given the fact they’ve now played 17 NBA Finals games against each other in the last three seasons.
To no one’s surprise, Stephen holds the advantage here, but Seth’s percentages are solid in every category. Though Dell is behind the current Curry ballers, when you factor in the era in which he played, his numbers are nothing short of impressive. Dell finished over 40 percent from 3-point range for his career and is still in the top 50 on the all-time list of made 3-point field goals.
No matter how you slice it, one thing is clear: 99.8 percent of humans would stand no chance against any of these guys in a backyard game of HORSE.
Dallas Keuchel will miss his upcoming start, though he isn’t anticiapted to miss much more.
The Astros on Saturday placed the left-handed ace on the 10-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck, the team announced.
The move, retroactive to Wednesday, is expected to keep Keuchel off the field for only one turn in rotation. He was initially scheduled to start Monday in Miami against the Marlins.
From 2006 to 2008, an exhaustive search was launched in Congaree — the Ivory-billed’s distinctive double-knock had been reportedly heard — which has thousands of acres of thick cedar swamps and old-growth bottomland forest, prime Ivory-billed habitat. Exactly 8,893 official survey hours later , no conclusive evidence was found.
Still, hope exists in Congaree and elsewhere in the American South.
Same for Tebow. Hope exists, though an eventual call-up to the majors based on merit (more on that in a moment) feels like the longest of long shots right about now. More Gamecocks than Ivory-billed, but not by much.
He’s batting .230 for the Fireflies, with a .319 on-base percentage, three home runs, 14 RBIs and a .688 OPS. To be fair, I should point out that it’s not like anyone on that club is lighting it up, though — of the 13 players with at least 35 at-bats, only two of them are batting higher than .245.
What does that mean? It’s honestly hard to know.
Rockies prospect Josh Fuentes learned a valuable lesson Friday. Only take a swing while standing in the batter’s box when you intend on hitting the ball.
The 24-year-old third baseman for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats was called out in the eighth inning of Friday’s game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies after he jokingly took a swing at a ball that didn’t even come close to reaching the plate.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell sent the 29-year-old back out for the eighth, but Ahmed smacked a 2-0 cutter past a diving Eric Sogard and into center field.
Reliever Rob Scahill came on to retire the next three Arizona batters and Neftal’ Feliz gave up a run in the ninth before closing out Milwaukee’s 6-1 victory at Miller Park.
Anderson, who spent his first two seasons with the Diamondbacks, outdueled former Brewers pitcher Zack Greinke, who was chased after 5 1/3 innings.
Nieves recorded the only no-hitter in Brewers history when he no-hit the Orioles on April 15, 1987. The Brewers are one of five MLB teams with just one no-hitter, along with the Blue Jays, Mets, Rays and Rockies. The Padres are the only MLB team without a no-hitter.
Obviously you don’t want to change your approach, but I shorten up, choke up a bit with two strikes just to get a quicker bat, Trout said. But I try and keep the same swing.
Trout’s two-strike results dramatically improved in 2016, which shouldn’t be surprising if you’ve already read this far. Take a look at what he did after falling behind in the count 0-2 in 2014, 2015 and 2016 (he only has 31 such plate appearances this year, a really small sample size).
When Zaza Pachulia hopped below the feet of Kawhi Leonard while Leonard was shooting in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, some people thought his intentions were to injure San Antonio’s star forward.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich’s comments after the game added fuel to an already raging fire.
Pachulia, on the other hand, has been left with the carnage eating away at his reputation. Many now believe the 33-year-old center is a dirty player. Pachulia and his family have even received death threats.
While Pachulia believes he could deal with the backlash had it been directed at just him, he blames Popovich for making the situation an even bigger deal than it already was.
The Warriors are now 14-0 in the postseason, but the coach warned against complacency after the Cavs surged back from 3-1 down to win last year’s Finals between the two teams.
Kerr said: “It’s been a great run, but none of that matters unless we can finish the job with this series. Trust me, we know, it was 2-0 last year and we lost.
“Playing an unbelievably good, competitive team, dominant team. They have what two, three losses the whole playoffs? Now we’ve got go back there, this is where the series Cheap Hockey Practice Jerseys changed last year.”
Is this still the biggest question mark of the first round? With Adam Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick entrenched as the starting CBs, Dennard hasn’t really had a chance to see the field in Cheap Hockey Team Jerseys meaningful snaps. It’s possible he simply plays out his rookie contract and tests the free agent market next spring. Dennard isn’t a complete bust yet, but the Bengals might’ve been better off using this pick on a higher-need position. Grade: C
