As mentioned above, James and Irving were spectacular for much of Game 3. While Kevin Love showed tremendous effort with 13 rebounds (four offensive) and six steals, he was 1 of 9 from the field in 37 minutes.
Back in Game 2, James posted a triple-double, and Love started 4 of 5 from the field on the way to 27 points. Irving had 19 points on 8-of-23 shooting and looked out of sync for a large portion of the game. It certainly wasn’t the best version of the All-Star guard.
Golden State holds a commanding 3-0 lead against the Cavaliers with a chance to close out the series Friday. Durant scored a team-high 31 points for the Warriors, including 14 in the fourth quarter. That shot could be the indelible image of this series in which the Warriors continue to knock down 3-pointers at the right time, all the time.
Durant’s shot wasn’t the dagger. It was the 16th dagger from 3-point range that put the Warriors one step closer to a 16-0 playoff run. Golden State knocked down 48.5 percent of its 3-pointers in Game 3.
This time, they did it in Cleveland. That’s even more impressive. The Warriors shot a combined 21 of 67 from 3-point range in Game 3 losses to the Cavaliers at the Q the last two seasons. This is the best Golden State has shot at Cleveland in the NBA Finals since hitting 17 of 36 in Game 4 of last year’s series.
