Green himself was the subject of a bizarre third-quarter sequence in which he appeared to have gotten a second technical foul and an ejection only to have it later revealed that an early technical assigned to him had been switched to coach Steve Kerr.
After the game, referee John Goble confirmed to a pool reporter that he did not verbalize to the (scorers) table, and after looking at the video, I should have done a better job of making sure that the table knew the technical foul was on coach Kerr.
That puzzled Cavs coach Tyronn Lue: (Referee) Mike Callahan told me that the first one they called was on Steve Kerr, Lue said. And I said, ‘well, it’s right here on the sheet that it was on Draymond, and our scorers people said the same thing.’ But evidently he said no, it was on Steve Kerr, the first one.
But for all the confusion around that situation, there was some pure bad blood between these teams, which is inevitable given the fact they’ve now played 17 NBA Finals games against each other in the last three seasons.
To no one’s surprise, Stephen holds the advantage here, but Seth’s percentages are solid in every category. Though Dell is behind the current Curry ballers, when you factor in the era in which he played, his numbers are nothing short of impressive. Dell finished over 40 percent from 3-point range for his career and is still in the top 50 on the all-time list of made 3-point field goals.
No matter how you slice it, one thing is clear: 99.8 percent of humans would stand no chance against any of these guys in a backyard game of HORSE.
Dallas Keuchel will miss his upcoming start, though he isn’t anticiapted to miss much more.
The Astros on Saturday placed the left-handed ace on the 10-day disabled list with a pinched nerve in his neck, the team announced.
The move, retroactive to Wednesday, is expected to keep Keuchel off the field for only one turn in rotation. He was initially scheduled to start Monday in Miami against the Marlins.
From 2006 to 2008, an exhaustive search was launched in Congaree — the Ivory-billed’s distinctive double-knock had been reportedly heard — which has thousands of acres of thick cedar swamps and old-growth bottomland forest, prime Ivory-billed habitat. Exactly 8,893 official survey hours later , no conclusive evidence was found.
Still, hope exists in Congaree and elsewhere in the American South.
Same for Tebow. Hope exists, though an eventual call-up to the majors based on merit (more on that in a moment) feels like the longest of long shots right about now. More Gamecocks than Ivory-billed, but not by much.
He’s batting .230 for the Fireflies, with a .319 on-base percentage, three home runs, 14 RBIs and a .688 OPS. To be fair, I should point out that it’s not like anyone on that club is lighting it up, though — of the 13 players with at least 35 at-bats, only two of them are batting higher than .245.
What does that mean? It’s honestly hard to know.
Rockies prospect Josh Fuentes learned a valuable lesson Friday. Only take a swing while standing in the batter’s box when you intend on hitting the ball.
The 24-year-old third baseman for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats was called out in the eighth inning of Friday’s game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies after he jokingly took a swing at a ball that didn’t even come close to reaching the plate.
Brewers manager Craig Counsell sent the 29-year-old back out for the eighth, but Ahmed smacked a 2-0 cutter past a diving Eric Sogard and into center field.
Reliever Rob Scahill came on to retire the next three Arizona batters and Neftal’ Feliz gave up a run in the ninth before closing out Milwaukee’s 6-1 victory at Miller Park.
Anderson, who spent his first two seasons with the Diamondbacks, outdueled former Brewers pitcher Zack Greinke, who was chased after 5 1/3 innings.
Nieves recorded the only no-hitter in Brewers history when he no-hit the Orioles on April 15, 1987. The Brewers are one of five MLB teams with just one no-hitter, along with the Blue Jays, Mets, Rays and Rockies. The Padres are the only MLB team without a no-hitter.
Obviously you don’t want to change your approach, but I shorten up, choke up a bit with two strikes just to get a quicker bat, Trout said. But I try and keep the same swing.
Trout’s two-strike results dramatically improved in 2016, which shouldn’t be surprising if you’ve already read this far. Take a look at what he did after falling behind in the count 0-2 in 2014, 2015 and 2016 (he only has 31 such plate appearances this year, a really small sample size).
When Zaza Pachulia hopped below the feet of Kawhi Leonard while Leonard was shooting in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, some people thought his intentions were to injure San Antonio’s star forward.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich’s comments after the game added fuel to an already raging fire.
Pachulia, on the other hand, has been left with the carnage eating away at his reputation. Many now believe the 33-year-old center is a dirty player. Pachulia and his family have even received death threats.
While Pachulia believes he could deal with the backlash had it been directed at just him, he blames Popovich for making the situation an even bigger deal than it already was.
The Warriors are now 14-0 in the postseason, but the coach warned against complacency after the Cavs surged back from 3-1 down to win last year’s Finals between the two teams.
Kerr said: “It’s been a great run, but none of that matters unless we can finish the job with this series. Trust me, we know, it was 2-0 last year and we lost.
“Playing an unbelievably good, competitive team, dominant team. They have what two, three losses the whole playoffs? Now we’ve got go back there, this is where the series Cheap Hockey Practice Jerseys changed last year.”
Is this still the biggest question mark of the first round? With Adam Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick entrenched as the starting CBs, Dennard hasn’t really had a chance to see the field in Cheap Hockey Team Jerseys meaningful snaps. It’s possible he simply plays out his rookie contract and tests the free agent market next spring. Dennard isn’t a complete bust yet, but the Bengals might’ve been better off using this pick on a higher-need position. Grade: C
Why that’s surprising: Blackmon is an elite hitter, no doubt. So why is he here? Blackmon leads the NL in RBIs despite being a leadoff hitter. No leadoff hitter has ever led his league in RBIs (at least, not back to 1913, which is as far as I could search in the Baseball-Reference Play Index). The most RBIs ever by a leadoff hitter? Darin Erstad in 2000, when he drove in an even 100 for the Angels. Blackmon is nearly halfway to that total in just 53 games. Crazy.
Why that’s surprising: OK, so it might not be stunning that Travis, a very good hitter, leads MLB in this category. It’s HOW he got to this position that makes it surprising — he basically gave the entire league a month’s head start and still caught everyone by the beginning of June. Travis hit exactly .130 in April, with only two doubles. Heading into the last game of May, the second baseman has hit .368 with 16 doubles this month.
The Cleveland Indians activated ace Corey Kluber from the disabled list Thursday. He will immediately rejoin the rotation to pitch against the Athletics.
Having won three of their last four games, the Indians will be pleased to add to their arsenal. Kluber gave up just one hit in five shutout innings during his rehab start last week.
Kluber is 3-2 with an abysmal 5.06 ERA in just six starts this season. On the plus side, he does have 41 strikeouts through 37 1/3 innings pitched.
Kluber will try to outduel Oakland’s 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Jharel Cotton in an attempt to help the Indians win the four-game series.
The Indians optioned right-hander Shawn Armstrong to Triple-A to clear a roster Basketball Cheap Jerseys spot for Kluber.
One of the silliest things about the MLB Draft is people comparing prospects to former stars. I get the motivation: The average fan knows little about these players, and comps are an easy way to get an idea of what type of player the prospect is on the field. But Adell has been compared to everyone from Bo Jackson to Byron Buxton to Melvin Upton Jr., and that’s more than a bit crazy. What you need to know is this: Adell is a ridiculously talented prep star with a big upside who could wind up pretty much anywhere in the first round.
Remember that HR-to-K ratio Haseley’s teammate, Pavin Smith, has put up this year? Haseley isn’t far behind, with 14 homers and 19 strikeouts heading into the ACC Tournament. Must be something about those Virginia hitters, eh? Oh, and Haseley’s batting .400 with a 1.186 OPS and 10 stolen bases, to boot.
The Yankees on Monday unveiled an 18-seat section in the right field stands of their ballpark to promote rising star Aaron Judge, their right fielder.
Tickets to the section are not for sale. Instead, the team will choose 18 fans each game to sit there, and they’ll receive a judge’s wig and a gavel that says All Rise or Let’s Go Yankees, according to Ruocco.
Ruocco reported the Yankees conceived the idea for the special section during spring training, and as they saw more and more fandom about this right fielder, they decided to finally implement that.
Ahead of Monday’s action, Judge led MLB with 15 home runs and had 30 RBI with a .321/.421/.707 slash line.
Romero has what teams like to call character issues; he was kicked off the Houston team after a couple of incidents this season. But he’s a big talent with a strong left arm, and he might be as close to helping a big-league team out of the bullpen as anyone in this draft.
(Compensation for Colorado signing Ian Desmond.)
Bryzzo Souvenir Company is about to become a four-person partnership.
First Kris Bryant got married — front-row seats at the Vegas wedding right here (via the Chicago Tribune) — and now fellow Cubs star Anthony Rizzo has gotten engaged.
Rizzo used the team’s off-day to pop the question, then tweeted the good news, calling himself the Luckiest guy in the world.
The bride-to-be is Emily Vakos, who, the Tribune reported (citing a LinkedIn pager under her name), is a real-estate broker who graduated from Arizona State University.
Maybe she’ll find a good piece of property for Bryzzo Souvenirs.
Unlike lots of prep shortstops who profile at second or third base down the road, Allen’s future is at shortstop in the bigs. He’s not a big fella (5-8), but there’s a lot to like about what he brings to an organization.
(Compensation for St. Louis signing Dexter Fowler.)
Of course, the likely reaction from Royals fans and other Hosmer supporters is to say that WAR must be a hugely flawed statistic. And, yeah, maybe it’s not perfect but what matters is what opposing GMs think, and you can bet they’re going to thoroughly dig into the numbers. They’re not likely to shell out premium prospects for a couple of months of a guy with limited power (relative to the position) and a track record of being a very average first baseman, statistically. The other thing to consider is this: Barring Baseball Jerseys Wholesale injuries, there aren’t many playoff-bound teams in the market for a first baseman.
Feels like superstar players are landing on the disabled list way too often this season, doesn’t it?
And, finally, I’m not including stars on teams that didn’t have much in the way of playoff prospects anyway, guys like Freddie Freeman in Atlanta or Danny Duffy in Kansas City.
Here’s why: After Sunday’s games, the Nats’ bullpen has the highest batting average against (.287) and OPS allowed (.843) in the majors, is tied for the worst WHIP (1.50) with Mets relievers and has MLB’s second-highest ERA at 5.40, trailing only the Mariners.
Losing games in the ninth inning has been so demoralizing,б▒ Nationals GM Mike Rizzo told USA Today. It’s certainly not the way you want to go through a season. You look at our team, and all of the great performances and great seasons we’re having, and nobody is talking about it. It’s all about the bullpen and how those guys are struggling. It gets old.
We’ve got guys that are underperforming in the bullpen, and that’s Baseball Jerseys For Sale on me to take care of it.б▒
The Nationals are 26-17, seven games up on the Braves in the NL East and only a half-game back of the league’s best record. They boast a strong offense, solid enough defense and a star-studded rotation. But that bullpen бн
You can put Ken Hawk Harrelson on the board for one more season in the White Sox broadcast booth.
The renowned 75-year-old broadcaster will return for his 34th and final year in the booth in 2018 with a schedule of primarily Sunday home games, the White Sox announced Wednesday. Harrelson has cut back his schedule the past two seasons since he lives in Indiana and drives about 90 minutes each way to and from the ballpark.
The Braves next batter, Joe Adcock, clubbed a homer to center field to give the Braves a 3-0 win and ruin Haddix’s nearly-perfect night. Well, not exactly.
Aaron, not realizing the ball had gone out and thinking it had landed in the outfield, left the field after he saw Mantilla cross the plate, knowing the game was over. But Adcock then passed Aaron between second and third, and both men were ruled out. Adcock was credited with a double, and the Braves won 1-0.
Haddix’s line score: 12.2 innings pitched, 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts. Game score: 107. In other words, Haddix’s loss to the Braves that day in Milwaukee was one of the greatest pitching performances in history.
Haddix’s day aside, Burdette deserves props, too. He went the distance for the Braves (which is ludicrous), scattering 12 hits (but no walks) over those 13 innings. Yep, it was a different time.
A 12-inning perfect game? Rare. A 13-inning Baseball Jerseys Custom complete game? Also rare. Both happening in the same game? We won’t see that again.
Greene might be the most recognizable name in the draft, thanks to the Sports Illustrated cover story last month. He deserves the attention, too. Like McKay, he has the chance to be a star either as a position player (he’s a shortstop) or as a pitcher. And like McKay, his ceiling is probably higher as a pitcher. Unlike McKay, though, Greene has reportedly topped 100 mph with his fastball, which makes him pretty desirable. It’s hard to imagine he’d drop past the top three spots in this draft.
Baseball America has Wright at the No. 1 spot in its most recent mock draft, citing his combination of safety (relatively speaking) and upside. Padres fans have to love the idea of a guy like this — mid 90s fastball, hard curveball — pitching in a park like theirs. Of course, any fan base has to love the idea of Wright potentially joining their favorite team’s rotation.
Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper’s suspension for his involvement in Monday’s benches-clearing fight with Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland has been reduced to three games from four, according to multiple reports.
Both Harper and Strickland received an undisclosed fine for fighting. Harper was also knocked for charging the mound and throwing his helmet, MLB said.
The status of Strickland’s appeal remained unclear as of mid-afternoon Wednesday.
Harper’s suspension, delayed while he appealed, will take Baseball Jerseys Cheap effect Wednesday night, when the teams meet at 10:15 p.m. ET in San Francisco. He will be eligible to return Sunday in Oakland.
